Tehachapi Loop

Woodford-Tehachapi Rd, Keene, CA

The Tehachapi Loop is a long spiral on the railroad main line through Tehachapi Pass. The loop derives its name from the circuitous route it takes in which the track passes over itself, a design which lessens the angle of the grade. It has been ailed as one of the greatest engineering feats of its day (ca. 1876) as well as the world's busiest single-track main. The area is considered to be one of the prime railfan areas in the country with its combination of frequent train traffic and spectacular scenery.

Tehachapi Wind Farms

East of Downtown, Tehachapi, CA

The Tehachapi area is home to the largest wind resource area in California. Brite Lake

22902 Banducci Rd, Tehachapi, CA

The 90-acre Brite Valley Aquatic Recreation Area includes a campground with RV hook-ups and tent sites. Restrooms and showers are located near the camping grounds. Fishing is available at the lake, as well as picnic pavilions. Brite Lake is open all year long.

Tehachapi Mountain Park

Water Canyon Rd, Tehachapi, CA

The 5,000-acre Tehachapi Mountain Park ranges from 5,500 – 7,000 feet in elevation. In winter snow may cause road closures. There are 61 family campsites (no hook-ups) and 2 group facilities (one with 10 cabins). Flush toilets and showers are available for campers. Hiking and equestrian trails are available. A 10-horse corral lies adjacent to the Horseshoe Campground.

Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park/Resource Center

112-B East F St, Tehachapi, CA

Nestled atop a ridge in the Tehachapi Mountains, overlooking Sand Canyon to the east and the Tehachapi valley to the west, Tomo-Kahni, or "Winter Village," was the site of a Kawaiisu (Nuwa) village. The location was likely chosen for its moderate temperature and plentiful resources. The Kawaiisu migrated from the Great Basin and made the Tehachapi their home for two to three thousand years. The Kawaiisu are noted for their finely woven baskets of intricate and colorful design.

EFBC Feline Conservation Center

3718 60th Street West, Rosamond, CA

Home to over 70 of the world's most endangered felines, EFBC's Feline Conservation Center is a breeding zoo and research facility. Founded in Rosamond, California in 1977, we are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization run entirely on public donations.
